About Us – Crafting Sustainable Gardens for Modern India
Founded in 2019 by landscape architect Ananya Rao and horticulturalist Vikram Singh, GreenLandscape was born from a shared passion for marrying traditional Indian garden artistry with modern sustainability principles. Observing rapid urbanization and diminishing green cover across India’s major cities, Ananya and Vikram envisioned a practice dedicated to restoring ecological balance while creating visually striking landscapes. Their journey began with small courtyard renovations in Chennai’s heritage neighborhoods, followed by an award‑winning rooftop garden on a Mumbai corporate high‑rise that showcased drought‑tolerant native species and innovative rainwater harvesting.
At GreenLandscape, our core philosophy revolves around place‑based design, biodiversity enhancement, and resource efficiency. Every project starts with an in‑depth site analysis—assessing soil health, sun‑exposure patterns, microclimates, and existing vegetation. We then collaborate closely with clients to understand functional requirements: entertaining zones, play areas, meditation corners, vegetable gardens, or butterfly‑attractor habitats. This client‑centered briefing phase ensures the final design reflects both aesthetic aspirations and practical needs.
Our in‑house team comprises award‑winning landscape architects, certified arborists, soil‑science specialists, and master craftsmen skilled in traditional masonry, timber work, and water‑feature engineering. Leveraging CAD‑based 3D visualizations and hand‑sketched renderings, we bring designs to life before ground is broken—allowing clients to virtually wander their future gardens and provide detailed feedback. Materials are chosen for regional suitability: locally quarried granite for pathways, termite‑resistant Acacia wood for pergolas, and indigenous shrubs and grasses that thrive with minimal inputs.
By mid‑2021, GreenLandscape expanded to Delhi and Hyderabad, undertaking larger projects such as university campus greening and luxury villa estates. We pioneered “Urban Oasis” installations that integrate hydroponic planters, green walls, and smart micro‑drip irrigation controlled via smartphone apps—reducing water use by up to 45% compared to conventional sprinklers. Our commitment to sustainability extends to on‑site composting systems and integrated rainwater‑storage tanks that feed both irrigation networks and grey‑water recycling loops.
Throughout 2022 and 2023, GreenLandscape maintained a portfolio of over 150 completed projects, earning accolades from India’s Society of Landscape Architects for both environmental stewardship and creative excellence. Case studies include rejuvenating a 100‑year‑old banyan grove in Pune’s public park, designing a butterfly‑corridor path in Kolkata’s botanical garden, and crafting a Zen‑inspired meditation pavilion under peepal trees in Varanasi. Client satisfaction surveys report a 98% recommendation rate, citing our transparent communication, meticulous project management, and seamless coordination with architects and interior designers.
Looking ahead, GreenLandscape plans to launch modular “GreenPod” kits—prefabricated planter modules and vertical‑garden panels—for quick installation in apartment balconies and corporate atriums. We also aim to develop a community‑education program in partnership with municipal councils, teaching neighborhood groups how to create pollinator gardens and maintain kitchen‑garden beds. Our pledge remains unwavering: to bring nature back into India’s built environments, one thoughtfully designed landscape at a time, and to foster healthier, happier communities through the power of green.
